We’ve all heard how important it is to keep up with regularly scheduled maintenance. But sometimes, it can be hard to know just how regularly scheduled that maintenance is supposed to be. For instance, how often should the oil be changed in a 2019 Ram 1500?
2019 Ram 1500 Oil Change Intervals
The good news is that with the 2019 Ram 1500, you don’t have to know! The truck itself will tell you when it’s time to get to a shop via its automatic oil change indicator system. In this day and age, don’t think too much; just listen to the robots.
Indicator Lighting Up? Schedule an Oil Change with Classic Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Fiat
When does the automatic oil change indicator illuminate?
The 2019 Ram 1500 will constantly monitor the state of the engine and tell you when the change is necessary based on that. It doesn’t follow any rigid, arbitrary schedule for oil changes. This is because the time to get an oil change will differ from driver to driver based on individual drive habits and situations.
What type of driving leads to more oil changes?
If you’re the type of driver who makes frequent short trips, tows heavy loads, or drives in extremely hot or cold temperatures, you’ll be taking your 2019 Ram 1500 in for more oil changes and other service. At the earliest, the vehicle will tell you to go in around 3,500 miles after your last change.
Also, if you operate your vehicle in a dusty off-road environment or the vehicle is primarily left at idle, get the oil changed at 4,000 miles or 350 hours of engine run time.
How soon should I get my Ram 1500 oil changed once the light comes on?
Once the oil indicator light is activated, get your truck in the shop as soon as possible. At the most, get it serviced within the next five hundred miles.
Does the indicator light turn off automatically after the oil change?
The light does not turn off automatically. If you get your 2019 Ram 1500 serviced with an authorized dealer (like us!), that dealer should reset the indicator message after.
If someone other than the authorized dealer is doing the service, the light will have to be reset manually. You can find more information on this in the owner’s manual.
How long is too long between oil changes?
At most, oil change intervals should not exceed 10,000 miles, twelve months, or 350 hours of engine run time (whichever comes first).
